Illustrated Type: Gallery Nucleus

Posted on 05. May, 2011 by niki in Artists, Ashkahn, Ed Fella, Shows

Our friends Ed Fella and Ashkahn Shahparnia
are showing work in this group show over at Gallery Nucleus.
The show opens on May 14th 7-11pm.
210 East Main St
Alhambra CA 91801

Gallery Nucleus is pleased to present an exhibit celebrating hand drawn letterforms and experimental typography. Parallel to increasingly computer-driven imagery, it is both refreshing and encouraging to see the resurgence of working by hand—as well as an expanding community that finds value in this practice.

We have invited over 30 illustrators, graphic designers, sculptors, printmakers, and painters to interpret the alphabet, and are thrilled to showcase work at which art and design intersect. This collection explores how typography (even when reduced to a single letterform!) can be whimsical and bizarre, innovative and thought-provoking, and most importantly, downright fun!

To Japan: From LA with Love

Posted on 15. Apr, 2011 by niki in Albert Reyes, Andy Mueller, Artists, Ashkahn, Christopher Bettig, Devendra Banhart, Ed Fella, Frohawk Two-Feathers, Johanna Jackson, Kaseem Greene, Katsuo Design, Kime Buzzelli, Marc Atlan, Mel Kadel, Michael Leon, Milton Glaser, Misato Suzuki, Nat Russell, News, Shows, Travis Millard

This Saturday April 16th, Space 15Twenty will be graciously hosting a three week long fundraising event for Japan.
Organized with love by Niki Livingston, Sunshine Fox and Tania Enriquez the soft opening will feature a newly remastered Akira Kurasawa’s Rashomon
to be shown at 8:00pm in the courtyard and the opening of the Pop Up Shop.
(We’re big Kurasawa nerds, so we are super hyped on this)

The following Saturday April 23rd is the opening night benefit party with a silent art auction curated by our Creative Director Niki Livingston.
With over 60 artists donating work (& loads of 2K artists, included a hand lettered piece made specifically for the show from Ed Fella !!),
there is sure to be an amazing collection of art to chose from.

Hit+Run will be on hand making totes from a selection of custom work for the show and
My Hollow Drum, Holly D. Drummond and SUPERDELUX are bringing the music.

Come by, hang out and support the effort to raise some money for the rebuilding of Northern Japan.
